MIDDLESEX COLLEGE BASEBALL ALUM GAGE BENDIX SIGNS WITH MALONE BORDER HOUNDS
Pitcher Gage Bendix put together quite a career at Middlesex College. He was a stalwart in the Colts rotation from 2021-2023 and was the winning pitcher when the Colts set a program record with their 32nd win of the season in 2023.
His baseball career didn't end when he graduated from Middlesex College though. Quite the opposite.
During his sophomore year at Middlesex, Bendix committed to continue his career at NCAA Division II Goldey-Beacom College where he became an integral part of their bullpen.
This summer, Bendix continued to climb the baseball ladder as he signed with the Malone Border Hounds, an Independent League team based in Malone, New York. The Border Hounds compete in the Empire Professional Baseball League, which is based in Upstate New York near the border of the United States and Canada.
As he did at Goldey-Beacom, Bendix has become a valuable arm in the bullpen for the Border Hounds. Bendix has made four appearances out of the bullpen in the team's first 15 games and has yet to surrender a run. Bendix has pitched five innings, has allowed just three hits with one walk, and has picked up a save and a win.
The Border Hounds sit in first place in the EPBL with a record of 10-5.
At Middlesex, Bendix worked as a starter and reliever and was fantastic in both roles for the Colts. He made 19 starts in two seasons for the Colts and had 14 additional appearances out of the bullpen. Altogether, Bendix pitched 119.2 innings and had a record of 14-4 with an ERA of 2.71. As a sophomore. Bendix won his first seven decisions and finished the season with an ERA of 2.07.
At Goldey-Beacom, Bendix pitched 42.1 innings exclusively out of the bullpen and registered an ERA of 2.76. Bendix was 3-3 with six saves for the Lightning in his career.
